Ali drums up another Guinness World Record

Lisburn’s Ali Brown has set a new 22 hour Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Longest Snare Drum Roll’. Ali started his Guinness World Record breaking attempt on Friday evening 4th October at 6.32pm. After drumming all through the night he broke the world record on Saturday morning 5th November at 06hr - 37min - 7sec and went on drumming until 4.32pm beating the world record by nearly 10 hours. As it stands the current world record for the longest drum roll by an individual is 12 hr 5 min 7 sec, and was achieved by Jayson Brinkler (UK), in Dartford, Kent, UK, on 16th May 2015.

Ali attempted the world record in honour of his wee cousin Carris Dempster (age 7) who passed away in December 2015 with Neuroblastoma, a rare cancer for children. The event was run in conjunction with ‘The Carnival of Life Charity Ball’ at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Belfast on Saturday evening. The charities benefiting from the two events are: Children’s Cancer Fund NI and Children’s Heartbeat Trust NI.
